A little history on Gibson Equipment Repair. I (Lane Wiggers -Owner & Operator) chose the name Gibson Equipment Repair because of the location where our shop/store is located. Years ago this area had a cotton gin & a general store where the railroad tracks crossed Highway 8. Today there isn't even a sign there even though it is still marked on most any map.
I started to work at our local John Deere dealership (Greenline Equipment Inc. & Greenline II Equipment Inc.) in Aberdeen in January of 1997. I spent two years going to the John Deere Ag Tech college course at North West Community College beginning in August of 1997. At the school a lot of attention was put on learning about computers, computer controlled equipment, precision farming systems (GPS, AutoSteering, Yield Mapping, Variable rate planting & fertilizing), electrical & electronics wiring, & hydraulic systems. We also took courses on engine & power transmission systems. We also took a full compliment of academic classes. I worked at the dealership as much as I could all through this time of schooling. I sometimes think that I learned about as much at work as I did in school. I graduated from this program with honors. After that I continued working at Greenline until June of 2003. By the time I left there the majority of my work consisted of onsite service call & setup work that took all over Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee & Louisiana.
I started out back in 2003 as a repair shop for Agricultural equipment. As time went by & we began stocking more & more repair parts it became apparent that a separate warehouse was needed. This was constructed & a inventory of auto parts was purchased & put into the new building. Overnight parts service out of a Memphis warehouse was begun at this time also.
